Next week we take a moment to celebrate International Women’s Day. And while it’s always women’s day at The Assembly, we’ll take any/all opportunity to celebrate womanhood and remind ourselves to continue our push forward towards gender inclusivity and equality.
The last year was incredibly progressive for women; record breaking attendance at women’s marches around the world, Wonder Woman smashed box office records as the highest grossing live action female directed movie, the #metoo movement unearthed the voices of millions of sexual harassment and assault victims worldwide, and according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, “feminism” was the number one searched word of the year.
That said, we still have work to do. At The Assembly we will continue to provide opportunities to change the conversation and a sanctuary for women to gather together, unify our voices and grow. Whether you’re joining a conversation or taking steps towards self-empowerment through a workout, we see you
and we support you.
We asked a few of our team members what is making them feel empowered recently. It’s no surprise to us that self-care is at the top of the list. xo, Molly
Mary (Partnerships): I feel most empowered when I show up for myself: in my workouts, in my relationships, in my career. Add in a bold lip and solid heel? Ain’t no messin’! (Preferably Marie Metallic Mules by Avec Les Filles and Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating in 450 INA.)
Anabel (Membership): I’m empowered by taking care of my body every morning with a smoothie blended in my trusty Vitamix. (Pro-tip: cut up ripe bananas and apples & freeze them in a Ziploc. Then on a busy morning just add chia seeds, roasted & salted cashews or almonds, coconut, coconut water or almond milk and blend to perfection!)
Grace (Content): There is nothing that makes me feel stronger and more confident than the rush of serotonin and burst of endorphins after I challenge myself with a run, spin class or long hike. I also feel particularly bossy with a fresh mani/pedi. (Favorite Essie colors as of late are a clean/classic Ballet Slippers for fingers and a punchy/playful Clambake on my toes.)
DeAnna (Design): Lately for me, confidence has been about taking really good care of my skin and not wearing a drop of makeup either to work or out on the town! There’s something very empowering about being able to rub my face with abandon and not worry that I have glossier boy brow strewn across my forehead. Two of my go-to products are by January Labs; their Revitalizing Day Cream and the Retexturizing Night Cream. Another must have is May Lindstorm’s The Problem Solver Masque.
